How will you obtain bank loan or loan?

Rating Score :

A?proval : 98.6 %.

Get Cash in : during the day

Benefits : No faxing , No credit check , Real fast money ... and more !

According to your condition of house, employment status and profits, you'll be able to be eligible for a credit of up to $1500, even though some loan companies will give a maximum of $500. You will have opportunity to observe how much you be entitled to prior to agreeing to just about any loan contract.

There is certainly an important legitimate big difference between a present as well as a bank loan. A very nice relative or perhaps friend could give you $5000 with regard to auto repairs, for example. When there's no hope of repayment, the amount of money can be viewed a present. The giver couldn't sue for repayment later within a city fit. But when the loan provider designates the cash just like a loan and also the customer pays back a dollar, the amount of money may very well be a real bank loan as well as the loan provider may demand repayment anytime. Little claims courts spend much of time determining no matter whether the transaction including money would be a gift or perhaps bank loan. For this reason papers is important when making private lending options to good friends or perhaps relatives.

The needs for getting that loan are pretty straight forward. In case you are employed, having a month-to-month revenue involving $800 or maybe more, and also a bank account, you satisfy the basic qualifications. A number of loan companies within our network could have additional needs.

Cash lending products tend to be unprotected financial products eliminated on the next salary. Since they are short-term lending products, they can be small; varying from $100 to $1500 and repayment comes to the next pay day. They could be very helpful regarding conquering a brief financial crisis, yet shouldn't be thought to be the long-term fiscal option.

The majority of loan programs are addressed by finance institutions or another professional loan providers. They could use a variety of criteria to find out if your potential customer is qualified for a financial loan. Previous credit rating is virtually always regarded as, along with existing revenue and assets. The aim of the credit can be a good issue-a established expense possibility may have a lot more appeal as compared to an misguided concept for any new cafe. One particular essential point could be the earnings in order to debt ratio from the customer. Could the client have the ability to pay the loan back again interest? Skilled loan providers generally 'sell' cash, so borrowers must be aware simply how much financing really 'costs' when it comes to real money.

GM recalling 40,859 cars for potential fuel leaks

(AP) ? General Motors Co. is recalling more than 40,000 cars sold in warm-weather states because a plastic part might crack and cause a fuel leak.

The company is recalling Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 sedans from the 2007 through 2009 model years and Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent SUVs and Saturn Ion sedans from the 2007 model year.

The recall affects vehicles sold or currently registered in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada or Texas. Owners in Arkansas and Oklahoma also are included in the recall of the 2009 Cobalt and G5.

The vehicles have plastic parts connected to the fuel pump which could crack. If the crack gets large enough, fuel could leak out of the vehicle and cause a fire.

GM says there have been no reports of fires or injuries related to the defect. The company began investigating the issue in 2011 after a dealer reported fuel leaking from some vehicles.

GM says its warranty data indicates that the problem is far more common in warm-weather states. It will repair the vehicles for free in those states. Owners will be notified of the recall by mail.

But the company also plans to send letters to owners in other states offering a free repair within a limited time period if the parts are cracked. That offer is valid for 10 years or 120,000 miles from the date the vehicle was sold, spokesman Alan Adler said.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the recall on its Web site Saturday.

Written in an almost incomprehensible vernacular, Disco Pigs, the Week 1 ADC Lateshow poses an interesting puzzle to performers. We catch up with the team to hear their thoughts on this strange and extraordinary script...

In Enda Walsh's rite of passage drama, a train is a choo choo, a cow is a moo moo and a pocket is a plopet. Maria Pawlikowska, playing one half of this two-hander opposite George Johnston for the ADC Week 1 Lateshow, said "I'd never read anything like it before - the fact that it's written in thick, heavy dialect, firstly, which can completely throw the reader off, but the teen frustration and disillusionment [that the play deals with] is pretty universal and easy for most of us to identify with, and Pig and Runt have that kind of absurd humour and wit that accompanies that sense of disenchantment."

The strange patios in which the play is written is part phonetic Cork accent, part personal in-jokes and slang between the two central figures, and forms both a barrier and a gateway to the audience's understanding. Director Charlie Risius told us "You could definitely say Pig and Runt have erected a linguistic barrier between themselves and the rest of the world. Runt tells us that when they were growing up they simply refused to talk to any human beings other than each other. In the play we only really see them talk to others to insult or threaten them. But equally, between Pig and Runt the language is the opposite of a barrier, it is a conduit for their interactions, a vehicle of intimacy and mutual understanding, and the fantastic thing is that because the play is told from Pig and Runt's perspective, the audience (and the actors) are brought inside the barrier. Spectators are drawn into Pig and Runt's world and so, once they get accustomed to the language and the Cork accent (in the same way it takes five or ten minutes to attune to the verse when you're watching Shakespeare), I think that the patois will actually be anything but a barrier; it will hopefully bring the audience closer to Pig and Runt and help them to understand them - it certainly has had this effect for us in rehearsal."

Rehearsals sound hard work, though. Johnston reflected "The first challenge was working out exactly what Walsh means with certain words which he has written, i.e. 'fox' which is Walsh's approximation of a Cork pronunciation of the English word 'folks'; similarly 'tear' actually means 'here'. A lot of this is 'bedroom-work' but some of it is really quite ambiguous so we go through it in the rehearsal room with Charlie before we put a scene on its feet so everyone knows exactly what everyone else is saying! The other important piece of pre-rehearsal work to do is work out exactly what any references in the script are referring to; for instance Sonia O'Sullivan, who won gold in the 1995 World Athletics Championships is referenced repeatedly so it's important that we know exactly who she is so we can understand exactly what this reference means." Pawlikowska added "The play is going to be one of the hardest I've done, I think - not just because of the language barrier, the Cork dialect combined with Pig and Runt's own bizarre vocabulary - but the sheer physical exertion of it all! There's a lot of fighting, role-playing and the intensity of both characters really requires total commitment to every tiny gesture. I think the fact that the play is written in such a particularly unusual way meant Runt's voice was actually easy enough for me to find - Enda Walsh is a linguistic genius in that sense. The rhythm, for one, constantly gives me momentum, a direction, verbal (and physical) mannerisms to work with. I love how the musicality of the play is relentlessly contrasted with all the brilliantly vulgar things that Pig and Runt say and do."

It becomes clear that the linguistics of the play have a real effect on creating the production. Risius discussed its effect on their thinking process. "The extremity of the play's patois has certainly made all of us think very hard about the language and how to communicate everything we want to get across to the audience. In many ways it's been very beneficial, I think - having to rethink your assumptions and your usual methods makes you reassess things that normally you take for granted, and that has led to some interesting and fresh ideas. You have to strike a balance between naturalism and catering to the requirements of the audience - for example, people in Cork actually speak incredibly fast but obviously that wouldn't work on stage because the audience wouldn't have a clue what was going on. We've been working on getting the cast to savour each word and to roll it around their mouths, to really think about the physical process of making the sounds. This not only makes sure the words are clearly enunciated so that they'll be comprehensible, but we've found that it gives the words a lot of weight and body, which is very dynamic, so that when, for example, Pig describes how his mother in labour 'heave an rip all insie' it becomes almost onomatopoeic, and very visceral and vivid." It's a bold choice for these student thespians, but it sounds to us like they know what they're doing.

New Edition of Definitive (Two-Volume) Resource in Stem Cells ...

Handbook of Stem Cells 2ndEdition Co-edited by ? Robert Lanza, M.D., ACTs Chief Scientific Officer

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.?(BUSINESS WIRE)?Advanced Cell Technology, Inc. (ACT; OTCBB: ACTC), a leader in the field of regenerative medicine, announced today that its chief scientific officer, Robert Lanza, M.D. and Anthony Atala, M.D., W.H. Boyce Professor and Director of the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine, have released the second edition of Handbook of Stem Cells (Academic Press/Elsevier), the widely-recognized definitive resource in the field of stem cells. It includes a Forward by Professor Sir Martin Evans, Ph.D., FRS, co-winner of the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 2007. Sir Martin is credited with discovering embryonic stem cells and is considered one of the chief architects of the field of stem cell research. The two-volume set also includes contributions from dozens of stem cell pioneers, including James Thomson, Shinya Yamanaka, Doug Melton, Janet Rossant, and Robert Langer (a member of ACTs board of directors), among others, as well as patient advocate Mary Tyler Moore.

These books make an invaluable contribution to the education of researchers and clinicians both of the present day and of the future. They should be available in libraries of all biology and medical schools as well as those of companies and research institutions.

Handbook of Stem Cells, Second Edition follows a very successful edition published in 2004. The first edition was the first comprehensive body of work dedicated entirely to the stem cell field. The two-volume set quickly became the most relevant textbook in the stem cell arena. Now, several years later, major advances have occurred, with entirely new classes of stem cells being described. The description of induced pluripotent cells in the last few years brought many more avenues of research and discovery. In 2012, the first paper reporting results of two patients treated with human embryonic stem cells was published by ACT and its collaborators. It might seem that we have waited too long to finally see pluripotent stem cells in the clinic. However, this has been accomplished with incredible speed when it is considered that hESCs were first isolated just 14 years ago. Handbook of Stem Cells integrates this exciting area, combining in two volumes the requisites for a general understanding of both adult and embryonic stem cells. Organized in two volumes, Pluripotent Stem Cells and Adult & Fetal Stem Cells, this work contains contributions from the world?s experts in stem cell research to provide a description of the tools, methods, and experimental protocols needed to study and characterize stem cells and progenitor populations as well as a the latest information of what is known about each specific organ system.

The Handbook of Stem Cells, edited by Robert Lanza and colleagues, is an ambitious new text that achieves extraordinary completeness and inclusiveness, wrote Steve Goldman of University of Rochester Medical Center in NATURE CELL BIOLOGY about the first edition. [...] the editors have succeeded in putting together a reference that is broad enough in scope, but sufficiently detailed and rigorous, to be of real interest to both new and seasoned investigators in the field [...] In providing this treatise, which covers the history, biology, methods and applications of stem cells, the editors and authors have succeeded in establishing a conceptual framework and a common language for the field. In so doing, they have ensured that this two-volume set will serve as a benchmark reference in stem cell biology for years to come.

Writing about the first edition in the Times Higher Education Supplement, Ian Wilmut added, These books make an invaluable contribution to the education of researchers and clinicians both of the present day and of the future. They should be available in libraries of all biology and medical schools as well as those of companies and research institutions.

New UK collaboration to provide innovative solutions to the - STFC

?

The ability for medical researchers to discover and develop innovative healthcare solutions to better diagnose and fight fatal diseases and to improve neo-natal care has been boosted today by a new agreement to work together that has been signed by two of the UK?s leading laboratories.

The ISIS Neutron and Muon Source at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Oxford and the National Physical Laboratory, Teddington (NPL) have agreed to develop closer business and research links to collaborate on commercial offerings for the healthcare industry.

Work at ISIS, which produces beams of neutrons allowing scientists to study materials at the atomic and molecular level, has already enabled researchers to work on developing synthetic versions of antibodies to help fight disease. Neutron scattering is an established technique providing unique insight into atomic structures and molecular interactions by measuring the locations of atoms and the forces between them. This technique has proved particularly useful for the healthcare sector, providing pioneering insight into drug research, cell and membrane interactions and surgical implants.

?This partnership will seek to make closer connections between the two laboratories, to enhance the application of neutron scattering research by industry and to solve end-user problems in real-world environments,? said Andrew Taylor, Executive Director for National Laboratories at STFC.

?We will draw on NPL's multi-disciplinary approach to research and the broad experience in using neutron scattering for materials research at ISIS to provide new insight into medical technologies,? said Keith Dobson, Head of Business Development at NPL.

NPL is the UK?s National Measurement Institute and is a world-leading centre of excellence in developing and applying the most accurate standards, science and technology.

NPL's healthcare research focuses across diagnostics, medical physics and health and wellbeing where measurement plays a vital role in ensuring reliable and robust detection diagnosis and treatment. As diagnosis of disease, long-term patient care and wellness monitoring becomes more personalised, therapies and technologies for diagnosis and treatment need more reliable, safe and cost-effective measurements.

ISIS has strong links with industry and universities and supports some 3000 scientists using neutrons for a wide range of research including clean energy and the environment, bioscience, pharmaceuticals and health care, nanotechnology, materials engineering and IT.

ISIS is free to use provided research results are published into the public domain. Where commercial confidentiality is important, companies can join the fast-track ISIS Collaborative R&D Programme giving full control over intellectual property.

Examples of ISIS work in healthcare

Fighting disease through antibody research
Secretory ImmunoglobinA (SIgA) is the most prevalent human antibody and acts as the first line of defence against the wide range of bacteria and viruses which we encounter on a daily basis.

A team of scientists led by University College London, worked with ISIS to be able to? characterise SIgA for the first time, and are working towards synthetic versions of the antibody which will help to fight disease, particularly through increasing the efficiency of vaccines.

Helping to diagnose fatal disease

Diagnostic biosensors are devices used to detect diseases in the human body. These devices allow doctors to tell the difference between a virus and bacterial infection through the use of highly sensitive, engineered protein surfaces which can quickly detect the type of molecules in a sample.

Newcastle-based Orla Protein Technologies makes bespoke protein surfaces and uses neutrons at ISIS to test the quality of its engineered surfaces and to ensure their protein surfaces are reliable for manufacturing.

Breakthrough for babies born with severe cleft palates

Cleft palates are the most common birth defect in Britain, with one in every 700 babies affected. Severe cleft palates often require radical surgery which involves repositioning the tissue structure at the roof of the mouth.

A new hydrogel material similar to that used in contact lenses has been developed by a team of surgeons and materials scientists in Oxford from Oxford University and the John Radcliffe Hospital. The team used ISIS to confirm the performance of the gel at the molecular level.

A spin-out company from the University of Oxford has been formed to commercialise the materials.

Examples of NPL work in Healthcare

NPL scientists improve biomarker detection technique

Scientists from NPL's Biotechnology group have developed a new strategy to enable quicker and more precise detection of biomarkers - proteins which indicate disease. The work marks a new research direction for the group, and they hope the technique is an early step towards tools to detect Alzheimer's and cancer at the molecular level.

Any disease has proteins or levels of proteins that are specifically linked to it - biomarkers. Identifying these in body fluid such as blood can be a powerful medical tool, so the search for new diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers to underpin targeted medicines is of growing priority.

Ultrasound screening for breast cancer

A team of scientists from NPL and the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust have successfully completed an initial trial of a new, potentially more reliable, technique for screening breast cancer using ultrasound, and are now looking to develop the technique into a clinical device.

46,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year, using state-of-the-art breast screening methods based on X-ray mammography, but only about 30% of suspicious lesions turn out to be malignant. Each lesion must be confirmed by invasive biopsies, estimated to cost the NHS ?35 million per year. Ionising radiation from X-rays also has the potential to cause cancer, which limits their use to single screenings of at risk groups, such as women over 50 years old.

NPL spin-out helps improve athlete training regimes

Argento Diagnostics Ltd, a company spun-out from NPL in 2011, is working with UK Sport to develop Point of Care testing technology to support the UK?s high performance sports groups. This technology will improve training programmes for athletes. Argento?s technology offers fully quantitative analysis of multiple analytes from a single sample in a truly portable handheld device, which adds the benefits of mobile phone, WiFi and Bluetooth technology to store and communicate test results. This will allow athletes to monitor biomarker proteins that reveal details about the condition of the body before, during and after training sessions and give a clear indication of their physical health.

How To Hire Contractors For Home Renovations

Author (tuckerjayden). Submitted on Fri, 28 Sep 2012

Owning your own home is a great experience, but it is not without its responsibilities. Every house requires maintenance and beyond that, every house can benefit from home improvements. You need not be afraid of doing your own work on your home. With a few quick hints like the ones below, you can attack home improvement work with confidence.

?

One of the best home improvements you can do when selling your home is to replace the old and worn-out carpets. This will make the property look nice and give a great impression on potential buyers. Buyers quickly get turned off if they think that they are going to have to replace the stained and tattered carpets in every room.

?

When it comes to home improvement, be sure to promote the leaks at your house to the top of your priority list. This is important because leaks can be either dangerous, detrimental to the structure of your house, or to your pocketbook. Check all water pipes and fixtures for leaks on a regular basis. Install a CO2 detector in your house for gas leaks.

?

Windows

?

Light is a premium often overlooked in home improvement projects. There are far, far more rooms in the world that are too dim than there are rooms that are too bright. Adding more light fixtures is almost always a wise home improvement job, and often a fairly simple one. In more extensive renovation work, installing more windows accomplishes similar results.

?

When childproofing your home, do not overlook your windows as potential danger zones. Dangling cords from blinds or shades pose a strangulation hazard, and your child can fall through a wide-open window, even if there is a shade in place. Take a look at each window in your home carefully and adjust your treatments and habits according to the dangers posed by each specific window.

?

Windows And Doors

?

Windows and doors make a perfect home improvement project. You can add an indoor window box or change out your old patio doors for French doors. It is often possible to find good deals on these types of materials at the home improvement store. You won't have to spend a lot of money to make a dramatic change.

?

Hunt down drafts in your house around your windows and doors, and seal them with insulation or weather-stripping to make your home more energy-efficient. On a breezy day, hold a lit candle or a stick of burning incense around the edges of your doors and windows -- with the drapes tied back away from the edges -- to easily spot drafty areas as the flame moves or the smoke wafts.

?

Little tips like these can keep the home improvement process painless and keep homeowners from getting frustrated. Working on your house should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience; educating yourself on the subject will ensure that this is the case. When you have the proper information ahead of time, even the most complex home improvement project can be a snap.

Pacquiao being favoured over Marquez for their fourth fight ? Boxing News

Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez would be saddened to know that fight analysts are still favouring Manny Pacquiao over him, even though the Mexican believes he defeated Pacquiao all three times. Both the fighters will be locking horns for the fourth time on December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao, who recently lost his WBO welterweight title to American unbeaten fighter Timothy Bradley, has won two out of three fights against Marquez. The first fight between the two ended up in a tie, while the rest two were won by Pacquiao via unanimous and split decision.

As of now, the betting odds show that Pacquiao is at -400, meaning he is the favourite over Marquez. Marquez believes that he has defeated Pacquiao all three times, despite the decisions being against him.

The Mexican now wants to knock the Filipino out to show the world that he indeed is the better fighter in the ring.

?It's very important for me to knock Pacquiao out. I don't want to be in the ring and worked so hard and know I won the fight and have my heart [broken] again. I need to knock him out this time,? said Marquez during the press conference held for the fight?s announcement.

He added, ?I have to adjust, because what I did, even though I thought I won those fights, the judges didn't give them to me. He knows me, and I know him. But boxing is a sport you have to adjust and adapt.?

It seems like both fighters are in rage and they will be making their best efforts to ensure they reign dominant over the other.

By looking at their past fights, one could say that even though Pacquiao could not work his magic against Marquez, he still was better when it comes to speed and power punching. Marquez, on the other hand, is an extreme counter puncher, which gives him the opportunity to stand toe to toe against Pacquiao.

This is Marquez last chance to prove that he can beat Pacquiao. If he fails, he will go down in history as just another opponent of Pacquiao.

Group claims Da Vinci painted early Mona Lisa work - Entertainment ...

    The Associated Press ? Published September 26, 2012 Modified September 26, 2012

GENEVA ? A Zurich-based foundation says it will prove to the world Thursday that Leonardo Da Vinci painted an earlier version of the Mona Lisa.

The Mona Lisa Foundation, which owns the "Isleworth Mona Lisa," says that after 35 years of research, experts believe it predates the famed 16th-century masterpiece by about a decade.

The Isleworth painting - likewise a portrait of a young woman with an enigmatic smile - is slightly larger, was painted on canvas and has brighter colors than the famed Louvre Museum masterpiece painted on wood.

The group is presenting its findings to reporters Thursday in Geneva.

An accompanying book to be released by the foundation says the Isleworth Mona Lisa - which was in storage for decades - drew news headlines in the early 20th century.

Wyoming, Alaska top list of states that use most energy

    Grant Hindsley / AP file

The U.S. population, which accounts for approximately 4.5 percent of the world's population, uses a fifth of the world's energy and leads the world in gasoline consumption.

By Michael B. Sauter, 24/7 Wall St.

In 2010, the United States used roughly 97.7 quadrillion Btu of energy, up from roughly 95 quadrillion in 2009. To put that in perspective, the?U.S. Energy Information Administration estimates global consumption at roughly 500 quadrillion Btu. Effectively, the U.S. population, which accounts for approximately 4.5 percent of the world?s population, uses a fifth of?the world's?energy.

The vast majority of U.S. consumption is from fossil fuels, mostly petroleum, followed by natural gas and coal. The remaining use comes from nuclear energy, at 8.6 percent, and renewable energy, at 8.2 percent. While the U.S consumes an enormous amount of energy as a whole, some states consume much more energy than others. Based on the Energy Information Administration?s data for 2010, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed the 10 states that consume the most energy per capita.

24/7 Wall St.: America's worst companies to work for

Regions that produce the most energy also use the most and pay the least. Nine of the 10 states are among the top 20 producers of energy per capita. Combined, the 10 produced 33.2 quadrillion Btu, roughly a third of?the total energy production in the U.S. Meanwhile, they paid 8.3 cents per kilowatt-hour on average, less than the national average of nearly 10 cents.

Energy prices in the states that consume the most energy per capita are among the cheapest in the country. This is due largely to the availability of locally produced energy, particularly petroleum. Eight of the 10 states with the highest energy use are among the third with the cheapest costs. Wyoming, the state with the highest consumption per capita in the country, also has the cheapest costs per capita, at just 8.7 cents per kilowatt-hour. The U.S. average cost is nearly 10 cents, and in Hawaii, it is 25 cents per kilowatt-hour.

In addition to using the most, many of these states tend to be among the greatest producers of energy relative to the size of their populations. Some, including Louisiana, Texas and Wyoming, are also the greatest producers overall. Wyoming produces 10.5 quadrillion Btu of energy, roughly 14.5 percent of the nation?s production, despite being the least populous state in the country.

The reason these states are producing and using so much energy has a great deal?to do with their main industries. Most of these states, including North Dakota and South Dakota, Wyoming and Texas, are heavily involved in the energy production industry, particularly oil production. Energy production requires a great deal of energy use. Industrial use, which includes manufacturing and energy production, is among the highest type of use in these states. Every one of the top 10 states for energy industrial consumption is among the top 10 for overall energy consumption.

Residential consumption is also high in many of these states, but not nearly as high as industrial consumption. Of the 10 states that use the most energy per capita, five are?in the top 15 for residential energy consumption per capita.

Residential consumption, nationwide, is 22.3 percent of total consumption, while industrial consumption accounts for 31 percent. The commercial industry accounts for 18.4 percent and transportation uses 28 percent of total energy consumption in the U.S.

24/7 Wall St.: States losing the most jobs to China

24/7 Wall St. relied on U.S. Census 2010 population statistics and U.S. Energy Information Administration's??2010 energy consumption and production data to produce both consumption and production on a per capita basis. We also included costs per kilowatt-hour and consumption for each of four major types: residential, industrial, commercial and transportation, from the administration.

These are the 10 states that use the most energy.

    1. Wyoming

    • Consumption per capita:?948.1 million Btu
    • Residential consumption per capita:?85.2 million Btu (15th highest)
    • Industrial consumption per capita:?528.2 million Btu (second highest)
    • Residential price per kilowatt-hour:?8.77 (sixth least)
    • Population:?568,158 (the least)

Wyoming consumed more energy per person than any other state. Its per capita consumption was 948.1 million Btu ? the equivalent of almost 171 barrels of oil per person per year, or 7,182 gallons per person a year. Most of this was not the result of residential consumption but of consumption for transportation, industrial and commercial sectors where Wyoming ranked second, second and first respectively in the country. Wyoming has the smallest population in the U.S. but ranked second for the largest amount of energy produced in the country, with more than 14 percent of the nation?s production. In 2011, the state produced 40 percent of the coal mined in the U.S., while in 2010 it had almost 12 percent of the country?s dry natural gas reserves. The average cost of electricity among all sectors of users in Wyoming was the lowest in the country at 6.2 cents per kilowatt-hour.

    2. Alaska

    • Consumption per capita:?898.5 million Btu
    • Residential consumption per capita:?72.1 million Btu (20th lowest)
    • Industrial consumption per capita:?432.7 million Btu (third highest)
    • Residential price per kilowatt-hour:?16.26 cents (sixth most)
    • Population:?722,718 (fourth least)

Alaska ranks second for the amount of energy consumed per capita. Alaska is unique in that many residents are not linked to a grid infrastructure but rather receive their power from diesel generators. Use of generators is energy-intensive and therefore expensive, and for this reason Alaskans paid some of the highest prices for electricity in the country. Due to the vastness of the state, people travel great distances to and from places. It comes as no surprise that Alaskans? consumption of energy for transportation per capita was 291 million Btu per person, almost 35 percent more than the next state, Wyoming. Alaska was also one of the largest producers of energy in the country and sits behind Texas in second place for the amount of crude oil production.

    3. Louisiana

    • Consumption per capita:?894.4 million Btu
    • Residential consumption per capita:?84.2 million Btu (17th highest)
    • Industrial consumption per capita:?591.1 million Btu (the highest)
    • Residential price per kilowatt-hour:?8.98 cents (12th least)
    • Population:?4,574,836 (25th most)

Louisiana comes in third for the amount of energy consumed per capita, but it comes in first in the country for the energy consumed per dollar of gross domestic product. The state consumed more than 20,800 Btu per dollar of GDP. This is almost three times the national average and 33 percent more than Wyoming, the state that consumed the second most amount of energy per dollar of GDP. Much of this is due to the heavy, energy-intensive industries that are the backbone of Louisiana?s economy. The industrial sector in Louisiana accounted for?more than?66 percent of the state?s energy consumption ? the highest proportion in the country. The state was one of the largest producers of energy in the country and had the second most number of refineries. Most of the energy produced was crude oil and natural gas.

24/7 Wall St.: The biggest gas guzzlers on the road

    4. North Dakota

    • Consumption per capita:?712.6 million Btu
    • Residential consumption per capita:?97.8 million Btu (the highest)
    • Industrial consumption per capita:?365.5 million Btu (fourth highest)
    • Residential price per kilowatt-hour:?8.13 cents (third least)
    • Population:?683,932 (third least)

Like many of the states on this list, North Dakota is sparsely populated. So, although the state consumed the ninth-lowest amount of energy in the country, on a per capita basis it was the fourth-largest amount of energy. The heating costs of long, cold winters plays a large role in this. The Roughrider State ranked first in the country for consumption of energy for residential purposes per capita. North Dakotans paid some of the lowest average prices for their electricity. Across all sectors, residential, commercial and industrial, the average price of a kilowatt-hour of electricity was 7.11 cents, much lower than the U.S. average of 9.83 cents. The state was the 15th-largest producer of energy in the country and has the ability to become an even larger producer in the future due to new rock fracking techniques in the Bakken formation and the sixth-best wind energy potential in the country.

    5. Iowa

    • Consumption per capita:?489.3 million Btu
    • Residential consumption per capita:?79.7 million Btu (24th highest)
    • Industrial consumption per capita:?239.5 million Btu (fifth highest)
    • Residential price per kilowatt-hour:?10.42 cents (22nd least)
    • Population:?3,062,309 (21st least)

Iowa?s large consumption of energy per capita was driven by the residential and commercial reliance on liquified petroleum gas, which has a lower energy density than fuel oil or petroleum. Iowans also used a great deal of wind power, which amounted to 19 percent of its generated electricity. Iowa consumed more than twice the amount of energy it produced in 2011. Still, it was the largest producer of ethanol in the country, producing 27 percent of the nation?s fuel ethanol in 2011. The Hawkeye State ranked fifth for its consumption of energy for industrial purposes per capita.
